Arculli wins National Championship singles title!
See her road here.
Michele Arculli (3rd from left) went undefeated to claim this years National Championship Women's Singles crown.
|
Michele Arculli (Essex County LBC) became only the third woman from the Northeast division to bring home the coveted singles title and the first since 1982 when Mary Scott (Bridgeport LBC) won the title. Arculli went undefeated in 7 games. You can follow her run through the field by clicking here to see the results. The Arculli name is no stranger to the championships, Michele's dad Skip Arculli has won three singles titles and is the last male to win the title for the NED winning in 1995. He has also won a pairs title.
October was a good month for Northeast Division lawn bowls which began with a win in the East Coast Challenge over our friends from the Southeast. See more on that win below and see other past winners of the National Championships at http://www.bowlsnortheast.com/tournament-results.html Good job Team Northeast!!!

Northeast Division representatives to the National Championships set

As Yogi Berra aptly uttered many a year ago, 'its like Deja Vu all over again!' This years representatives, those carrying the torch for the Northeast as they compete against the other division in the USLBA, were solidified on August 21-22 with the singles playdowns at Skytop LBC. Much the same as last year Michele Arculli of Essex County LBC (NJ)came out on top on the women's side after a playoff win over Helen Fickley of Frick Park LBC(Pittsburgh). On the men's side Dan Berg of Williamsburg LBC (Va.) went undefeated to claim the right to represent us again. They will compete in San Diego in October. They will join the doubles representatives Eileen Luba and Rusty Hein of Frick Park and Tom Rabolli and Gene Oka of New York LBC(Central Park).
