Buck Hill Falls LAWN BOWLING CLUB

Picture
Buck Hill Falls and Spaulding in LBC in New Hampshire were responsible for beginning the United States Championships, which continue to this day under the name National Championships. Clifford Gillam, past president of the Buck Hill Falls Company, promoted the sport and was later named to the Lawn Bowling Hall of Fame. Buck Hill was the site of the first U.S. Doubles Championships in 1958 and the first U.S. Singles and Doubles championship for the American Women’s Lawn Bowls Association in 1977. Along with many lovers of the sport, Walt Disney bowled in the Buck Hill Open in 1964 and William (Bill) Hay of Amos & Andy fame was announcer from 1960-1969.
