2020 TOURNAMENT RESULTS
SALADIN PAIRS - FRICK PARK, PITTSBURGH, PA
DATES: SEPT 26 & 27, 2020
Last 2020 NED tournament ended this weekend with the Saladin Pairs, honoring one of the greatest female bowlers, Lois Saladin of Frick Park. 8 teams entered with one team from out of town, in a 5-card draw.
This year’s winners are two relatively new bowlers from Frick Park, Ted Tragard and Maz Zankowski with a 5-0 record. Ted also earned with this win, Bowler of the Year for the NED as Ted placed in 3 other NED events he entered. No playoffs were needed. 2nd Place went to Veronica Sum and Dick Sayer of Essex County LBC with a 4-1 record and 3rd Place went to Marion/Larry Jr. Stawartz and Larry Stawartz Sr. with a 3-2 record. Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to Frick Park for hosting this event and for your kind hospitality. |

2020 NED OPEN AT FRICK PARK, PITTSBURGH, PA - AUG 8 TO 13, 2020
2020 NED Open Triples event was held on Sat, Aug 8th and Sun, Aug 9th
Congratulations to Russ Sheldon (Lead), Jeri Spann (Vice) and Gary Mosso (Skip) of Frick Park, who won 1st place outright with a 4-1 record. Playoffs were held for 2nd place with two other Frick Park teams, the Stawartz family...Larry Jr., (Lead), Cory (Vice) and Larry Sr., (Skip) with a 2-1-2 record vs. Tony DeCarolis (Lead), Ted Tragard (Vice) and Maz Zankowski (Skip) with a 3-2-0 record. In the end, the Stawartz family prevailed and won 2nd Place with Zankowski's team, 3rd. We would like to also recognize the other Stawartz team that consisted of mother and daughter, Marion and Melanie and their Skip, Steve Shaw. Both Melanie and Steve are relatively newer players from Frick Park, who played really well for their first competitive tournament! We hope to see them in future NED tournaments. 5 Triples teams participated in the 2-day 5 card draw. There were were some great games and competitors! |

2020 NED Open Pairs event was held on Mon, Aug 10th and Tues, Aug 11th
Congratulations to Veronica Sum (Lead) and Richard Sayer (Skip), both representing Essex County Lawn Bowling Club for winning this year’s Open Pairs with a 5-0 record. It was a special feat for them to win as Veronica was playing on a kneeling scooter due to an injury she sustained back in June. No playoffs were held. Congrats to 2nd place winners, Gary Mosso (Lead) and Richard Lockyer (Skip) of Frick Park with a 4-1 record and 3rd place winners Ted Tragard (Lead) and Maz Zankowski (Skip) of Frick Park with a 3-2 record. 2020 NED Open Singles event was held on Wed, Aug 12th and Thurs, Aug 13th
Congratulations to Russ Sheldon who finished undefeated at 6-0 in this year's Open Singles. 12 players participated in this years Open singles 2nd place after playoffs went to Ted Traggard with Cory Stawartz 3rd Our Bowler of the Tournament was Russ Sheldon with wins in Singles and Triples. Thanks to the Frick Park Lawn Bowls Club for hosting this year's Open especially during this COVID pandemic. A big thank you to Doreen Alexander for being the Tournmanent Director and Daniel Boyarski, President of Frick Park LBC for keeping us safe and accommodating the bowlers from out-of-town! |

Congratulations to the 8 teams that played in the FINAL Drevitch Pairs tournament last Saturday at the newly renovated Essex County Lawn Bowling Club. It was a long and HOT day on the green.
Scott Snyder and Ted Tragard finished at 4-0 to win against Patrick Duffy and Amy Farber (3-1), who finished 2nd. Their only loss was to the winners. Ron Forlenza with Richard Marcus and substitute, Will Aitcheson, won a 4-way playoff to finish 3rd. Congratulations to all those placed and also to two new bowlers, Ted Tragard of Frick Park, Pittsburgh and Amy Farber of New York LBC, who played amazing with their partners. |
